Paul Gulacy does James Bond

Artist Paul Gulacy and writer Doug Moench have a long history of collaborations, crafting epic tales of espionage, mysticism, martial arts and adventure. Here, as we're about to be assaulted by the marketing campaign trumping up the latest Bond film, Quantum of Solace, which we all hope will be as good as the last, I would like to call your attention to the Serpent's Tooth, a fabulous original James Bond comic book mini-series created in 1995 by the two artists at the top of their game. It takes all those retro elements that had made the series famous, before becoming laughable (deformed villains, mega-hidden fortresses, exotic jungles, gadgets and, of course, more action women than trees), and uses them to great effect. It's now collected in trade paperback, so you can save on gas, ticket planes and credit card fees trying to gather all the issues.
